• Your lazy kate

• Your niddy-noddy

• Two small baskets

• Your spinning stool or chair

Unleash your creativity and explore a spinning approach focused on texture, movement, and boldness. This course guides you from fiber preparation to finishing touches to create unique yarns that tell a story.

What you will learn:

1. Creative Preparation and Design 

• Color Harmony: Learn to select and arrange your shades to create deep contrasts and vibrant points of light.

• Fiber Selection: Understand the impact of loop fibers like Mohair and longwool breeds (Lincoln, BFL) on the movement of your yarn.

• Technical Preparation: Master the dosage of sparkle (Angelina) and carding techniques to achieve fun Art batts.
  
  

2. Spinning and Plying Techniques 

• Core Spinning: Learn the precise hand positioning to seal fiber onto a central core.

• Angle Geometry: Master twist angles (45∘ for bulk, 90∘ for strength) for a perfectly balanced yarn.

• Specialized Equipment: Optimize the use of a "Jumbo" flyer to allow textures to pass through without friction.

3. Artistic Effects and Textures 

• Inserting Locks: Create trailing locks for weaving or integrated textures for knitting.

• Creative Additions: Secure techniques for integrating beads, fabrics, and auto-wrapping with lightweight threads.

4. Post-Production and Finishing 

• The Steaming Secret: Use a steamer to instantly set the ply and relax the fiber.

• Care: Essential washing and flat-drying steps to preserve the structure of your creations.
